I’ve got my paintbox out today

To paint a lovely picture.

I’ll dab a brown dot here,

And a black dot there,

       A big blob of orange:

       That can be someone’s hair.

With a sky of blue,

And a sea of green

It’s going to be the best picture

       That anyone’s ever seen.

A splurge of purple

Over there, I think,

Then a large splodge of red

       And yellow and pink …

That’s it – if I reach up tall

I can paint every colour

I can think of

on Dad’s boring white old wall!
